STRIDE™ Series 800

The STRIDE™ Series 800 portal detection units are designed for pedestrian portal security installations that require very high sensitivities to all types of radionuclides. Portal detection units are able to detect and identify radionuclides carried by a pedestrian walking at a pace of 1 meter per second.  It contains two 2” x 4” x 16” NaI scintillation detectors, summed to provide an extremely high sensitivity to gamma radiation and rapid identification of the radionuclide. The portal detection unit comes in an aluminum housing with wooden top and base.  Audible and visible annunciators alert attendants of the presence of gamma and, optional, neutron radiation. The portal detection unit operates on main power and includes a UPS to assure continuous operation in extreme conditions. Communication with the server computer is accomplished via an RJ-45 Ethernet connection. An optional He³ neutron detector with moderator is available, as well as a high dose-rate GM detector.

All portal detection units are provided with STRIDE Basic, a server communication and alarm protocol program. STRIDE ID server software is available for isotope identification using an ICx priority template matching technique and STRIDE View, a graphic users interface client program is available to display alarms and results on the screen of a computer. STRIDE View also has the ability to transmit messages and/or screens to another computer, PDA or similar device worn by a local security officer.
